First off, I’m Darrin and welcome to Boil Then Simmer and let me get straight to the point. Yes, it’s another cooking blog, but trust me, this one is different. This website represents the culmination of my lifelong passion for cooking and the valuable experiences I’ve gained on my journey. With over 30 years experience in the kitchen, hopefully you can find some exciting and delicious dishes on my website.
My ultimate aim for Boil Then Simmer is to create one of the most extensive cooking websites on the internet. It shouldn’t always be about overwhelming you with an abundance of recipes, I prioritize quality over quantity. Every dish and every recipe will be easy to cook. Whether cooking for your family or holding a dinner party for friends. All my recipes have been tried and tested on the people close to me.
A little about me…. Born in Sydney, Australia I’ve lived most of my life in Brisbane, Queensland. I have been fortunate enough to live in one of the best countries in the world. My cooking strengths are certainly meats. Whether is a low ‘n’ slow BBQ, a beautiful roast dinner or a perfectly cooked steak, I am all over it. However, I have been cooking for over 30 years and have picked up a few tricks and different cooking techniques a long the way.
While sometimes it is nice to make your own pasta or bake your own bread. When cooking dinner for the family on a week night at short notice this is just not practical. Most of the recipes I’d like to put up here I’d like to think are economical and easy to cook at short notice or on a tight budget.
Cooking Philosophy
Taste, taste, taste. Constantly sampling your food as you cook allows you to fine-tune the flavours and ensure every bite is a delight. Seasoning plays a crucial role as well, so trust your palate and adjust accordingly, adding just the right amount of seasoning to elevate each dish. Balancing out a beautiful curry or getting the seasoning right on a delicious stew. You should always taste as you go for optimal results.
Temperature mastery is another vital skill on your path to culinary excellence. Understanding the fundamentals of reading the temperature of your food will propel you towards perfection. Whether it’s achieving the ideal doneness of a steak or the perfect roast lamb, this knowledge empowers you to create consistently remarkable results.
Unleash your inner chef and savour the journey towards creating extraordinary flavours that will leave you and your guests in awe. Like, Share and please enjoy Boil then Simmer as much as I have enjoyed creating it. If there is anything else you would like to know about us, reach out i’m always happy to answer any questions.
